Vim, Vigor, and Vitality

My grandpa was almost 100 years old when he passed away. I say that because I am not entirely sure how old he was.

He was one of the greatest men I have ever known. His word was his bond. He was a great example to everyone around him of how to lead a good life. He was small in stature but large in spirit.

His favorite saying included the words Vim, Vigor, and Vitality.

I would go visit him and walk in the door practically yelling at the top of my lungs (because he refused to turn the volume up on his hearing aid.... actually come to think of it, maybe when he found out I was coming he turned it down because he knew that I would be yelling at the top of my lungs :)) "Hello GRANDPA! How are you? Sure glad to see you!"

He would give me a great big hug and say, "Wow Brittany Ann Walter Kunz, you sure are full of some Vim, Vigor, and Vitality. If I had as much energy as you, I would jump out of this chair, and he proceeded to list all that he would do."

He passed away from cancer not to long ago, surrounded by family, friends, and many other people that loved him.

I have been thinking of him lately. Wondering if he is serving with my little Daxton. I bet he is.

It is always so sad to lose someone we love, but so precious to have memories.

Love the picture with Daxton.
Sorry I couldn't make it over to meet Stephanie. Getting Tucker out the door has been a little more involved than I thought.
Bike anyone? Time? Let's do it.

Your Grandfather sounds like a wonderful man. His picture did not load for me but I can close my eyes and imagine his ornery eyes shining from a wrinkled, kind face.

Can you image how your little son rejoices in having him there as a companion? What a lovely image.

Thank you for linking this poignant and loving post to Alphabe-Thursday's Letter "V".

You add richness and beauty each time you post.

Thank you.

A+

Your grandfather sounds like a wonderful man. What great memories you have of him. I'm sure that he is bouncing Daxton on his knee and they are both watching over you. Kathy

What a lucky little girl you were, to have such a grandfather! I am sure he is counting himself blessed right now to be with your little Daxton.

There are people who do not have happy memories of being with a grandparent. I have trouble understanding them, because to me their lives seem so empty. I cannot imagine my life without the memories of being with my grandparents. I loved them and they loved me. I think of them every day and how they have influenced my thinking and my life.
My grandparents are no longer with us. But I am seeing good qualities in my brother and in younger relatives that seem to be an echo of our parents and grandparents. Love moves through different people like ripples on water.

Lovely post!

Best wishes,
Anna
