Week in Review

This week has been a fun one.  Early in the week there was a tropical storm that went through Florida.  It missed us but we got a ton of rain because of it.  It has rained a ton every day the past two weeks.  Apparently June is the rainy month here but it's been a long time since many locals we've talked to remember this much rain in consecutive days. 

We started lengthening Savannah's leg on Monday.  We lengthen it 0.25 mm four times a day so by the end of each day it will be 1mm longer......we are now 5mm into the lengthening.  The machine we use to lengthen it is a magnet that spins and this in turn spins the nail in Savannah's leg.  You can see a picture of the PRECICE implant that is in Savannah's leg here: http://www.ellipse-tech.com/pages/PRECICE

Yesterday we went to a science museum.  They has some very cool things like real mummies from B.C. that the Egyptians had preserved.  They also had one of the space suits that astronauts wore during one of the Apollo missions.  They had some really cool fish aquariums.  One of them was circular with a hole in the middle like a Cheerio.  Mikenna took Scarlett into the middle so she could see fish all around her.....we thought she might have sensory overload as she was going crazy watching all of the fish around her.  She thought it was very cool.  

After we got home from the museum Scarlett tripped while going to check the mail.  She hit her head on the corner of a concrete post.  It sliced about a 1.5 inch long gash that was very deep.  Blood was running down her face.  Brittany cleaned it up and we ran her to the same hospital that perfomred Savannah's surgery.  The Drs. were hoping to just glue the wound together but it was too deep so they had to stitch it up.  To get her to hold still they had to wrap her in a sheet and then a papoose, which was basically a board with velcro straps.  She fought the whole time the Dr. stitched her up.  Finally when they finished and we unbundled her she was soaking wet from sweat. Not fun.

Today after church we released balloons to Daxton with notes for him in the balloons.
