Tooth Fairy

We don't really believe in the tooth fairy around here because it brings with it the desire to pick teeth out of our head and well we really want to keep the teeth in the head (mouth) where they belong because that is how we eat... so we have banished to tooth fairy due to negative (positively) reinforcement.

However, it is VERY hard to deny a 10 year old who has undergone oral surgery under general anesthesia, and had 7 teeth pulled, the satisfaction of a visit from the tooth fairy. After much consideration, she decided to leave behind some stickers and a coloring book that luckily she had in her bag of tricks, because she is DEFINITELY broke now.

Why 7 teeth you say? Well little missy Savannah has a VERY small mouth with VERY crooked teeth and many MORE problems that would just bore you. Owell, I am going to tell you anyway, its my blog, I can do almost whatever I want :). She has a canine tooth laying sideways above her teeth and we needed to pull some so that they could somehow maneuver the tooth into place. She also has a very randomly placed permanent tooth on the bottom that without serious intervention will cause much discomfort and random looks from strangers (although we dont' really care what they think) and she has never been able to close her mouth (which makes for some stinky breath in the morning and annoyingly loud meals). Just saying.

SO we had 7 teeth pulled so that we can get started on TWO rounds of braces. What does that mean? Head gear, bands, brackets, retainers, oh and lots and lots of dinero (good thing my husband is rich).... all in her tiny little mouth. The queen of all picking is about to be in heaven. Hopefully they have some good bonding material.... (otherwise they will be in the hole with this one). Poor little thing. She is going to be so miserable for a little while.

Just in case you wondered how the surgery went, it was fine. Savannah would not be held back and did not miss a beat. She begged to go to school the next day and I sent her with a shake, some oatmeal, and a note to her teacher with my phone number should she need it. Nevertheless, Savannah had a great day and it was a success! OH and she is very much toothless :)
